More cakes!

The biggest problem with liking to bake is all the goodies around to ruin a girl's waistline. I was so thrilled that Easter was upon us, and thus I had a reason to give stuff away, that I decided to make a cake for the hell of it this past week. Fondant free, this one consisted of a lemon poundcake, with blackberry filling and white chocolate buttercream frosting...I attempted to use my piping skills on this one but the frosting wasn't cooperating, so I went for a clean surface and a modeling chocolate tulip.

I also had my husbands birthday to prep for...he only wanted cupcakes, with a car theme. All the deco's are modeling chocolate hand-crafted by me, the cupcakes are this fabulous chocolate stout recipe that isn't terribly sweet but very chocolaty and pairs well with the super sweet deco's!

T-shirts!

I've been on a t-shirt craze of late....it all started when my son outgrew his favorite Yoda shirt and I could not find ANY to replace it (I refuse to pay more than $14 for a t-shirt for a child!) Also they just don't make Star Wars gear for girls...and my babies LOVE Star Wars (hence the plethora of Star Wars apparel in these pics)!

The only thing they love more is Pixar...and particularly Monster's Inc. But again, they don't have a lot of Monster's t-shirts available.
I've been looking for kids T-shirts that were Harry Potter, again girls seem to be discriminated against...that's ok I can take care of that!

Finally, I've been making Star Wars hats for my son's birthday party to pass out as party favors.

Before you ask, I don't sell these...I don't want to be sued by Mr. Lucas or Ms. Rowling or Disney for that matter...I give them as gifts and they are fun to make!

Beer Tap Handles!

I REALLY like to sculpt things....I think it is possibly what I am best at! My husband is an amateur beer brewer and asked for some custom made tap handles: Vitruvian Homer, Brutus Buckeye and the Hop Devil...I threw in the pumpkin handle because he made a FABULOUS pumpkin beer with the pumpkins from our garden!

Halloween

My son has a habit of asking to be things for Halloween for which there are no commercial costumes available....case in point, he wanted to be a train in 2010, and an alien monster in 2011. So enter crafty me....foam board make a wonderful train and a blue sweatsuit makes a fabulous alien monster...and all for under $10!
I grew my own pumpkins last year, they were tiny....but I was still able to carve both the kids faces on them, they looked better than these pics indicate!

CAKES!

I love to watch cake decorating shows and finally have been able to create my own masterpieces. Most of these are for my family's birthday's, but every now and then I create one just for fun! I've pretty much gotten the hang of modeling chocolate and marshmallow fondant...next I plan to work on my general icing techniques!

Where shall I begin?

I'm kind of a jack of all trades; I bake, I sew, I cater, I paint and I sculpt! These are some images from the mural I painted in my kid's room...the are a little Nemo obsessed!

The GREATEST things I ever made!

Obviously, this probably goes without saying, but these two are the best things I've ever created. A lot of what I make is for them...nothing makes me happier than seeing them excited about something I have made!

Welcome to Everything Made by Me!

I have an eclectic range of hobbies...it's easy to explore creating things when you are home with two kids! I've created this blog to share what I've made...be it cakes, cookies, crafts or pumpkins! Enjoy!
